What to Pack during the Trek?

Get everything you need but make it lightweight. That means making decision wisely.  Check the season you are travelling in Nepal and organise your stuff accordingly.  Before getting to packing details lets remind you the important stuff to put aside first- PASSPORT and CAMERA.

  • Clothing: Our recommendation for clothing is get Woolen clothes while you reach Nepal. Before commencing the trip, you will have 1 day spare in Kathmandu and our trek leader will let you what and where to buy. Woolen clothes are comfortable, odour resistant and moisture-wicking. Get Insulating layers (fleece jackets, down jackets), waterproof and wind proof outer layers, Trekking paints, Trekking shorts (for warm season), quick drying under wear and sports bras, Wool, or synthetic Socks (please keep several pairs), Sun hat and Warm hat for nights, Gloves or mittens.

  • Footwear: Comfortable trekking boots with good ankle support, lightweight sandals for evening and plenty of shocks.

  • Backpacking Gears: Starting with backpack, 40L-70L is recommended depending on the length of the trek.  Sleeping bags fall under the essential list, although the tea house will provide the bed and blankets they are very basic. The weather falls drastically in mountains so we highly recommend carrying sleeping bag with you.  Trekking poles are necessary for making your trek easier as you will be climbing and stepping down a lot.

  • Hydration and Water purification: Carry water purifier like iodine tablets, water filter with you every time and reusable water bottle. You are going to use a lot during trek and keep hydrate yourself.

  • Toiletries: In Nepal use of toilet paper is not common but you will get in every hotels and tea house. We recommend taking some extra rolls with you every time just in case. You can always buy along the trial as well.

  • Sunglasses and Sun cream: The sun is strong when walking in Nepal because of the country's high heights and clean mountain air. You could still burn even if it is quite chilly outside and you are walking through snow. To protect your skin, bring a tiny bottle of high factor sunscreen. Wearing sunglasses will shield you from snow glare, and a sun hat will protect you from heat exhaustion.

Try to keep some snacks with you every time like Energy bars, trail mix and chocolate. It will be very helpful. It's important to keep in mind that the trick to packing for a hike in Nepal is to find a balance between being ready for varied weather situations and keeping your rucksack as light as possible. Aside from taking into account the amenities offered at the teahouses along the path, which can help you carry less food and clothing, be sure to check the weather prediction for the specific trekking region and time of year.
